Input methods
How to switch apps and input sources together on macOS
If you write in more than one language, app switching and input switching often happen together. Lyra lets you connect those steps.
Quick answer
Lyra can set an input source after it opens or focuses an app. That means a shortcut can take you to the target app and prepare the right keyboard input method for that app.
When this matters
- You write code in one app and messages in another language elsewhere.
- You keep a writing app, browser, or chat app on a specific input method.
- You lose time correcting text after switching apps with the wrong input source.
Lyra workflow
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Choose an app shortcut | Use Automatic Dock shortcuts or Manual shortcuts. |
| Set input behavior | Choose the input source to apply after Lyra switches apps. |
| Press the shortcut | Lyra focuses or opens the app, then applies the input source. |
Privacy note
Lyra's settings are local. It does not require an account and does not collect analytics, browsing history, clipboard contents, documents, or cloud-synced profile data.
Is this a global input method manager?
No. Lyra focuses on input source behavior after Lyra shortcuts.
Does it work with manual shortcuts?
Yes. Manual app shortcuts can participate in the same app switching workflow.
